Intersection Of Hoops & Business

FALCON PRIDE

FOUNDATION

Success in life is correlated to those you surround yourself with. I was fortunate that my teachers and coaches at HHS positively impacted my life during my formative years. This provided the foundation for me to blaze my path, deal with unknowns and have laser focus on the things I wanted. The confidence I gained from both my academic an athletic experiences at Hanford gave me confidence to dream big, approach and collaborate with successful people and prepare for the ups and downs of life.

FAILING

Life is filled with success and failure- and sports imitates life in this manner.   There were many times I did things wrong, however, I learned from failure and recognized it to be an integral part of winning.   As a three sport athlete, I learned from some fantastic coaches, pushed myself to be the best I could be and integrated those lessons into my professional career and subsequent businesses.

SUCCESS

While earning my business degree from the University of Washington I became a manager for the men’s basketball team. The next three years I was part of 2 NCAA Tournament teams- including the 1998 Sweet 16 where we lost at the buzzer to UConn. From there I was in the front office of the Seattle SuperSonics where I learned from some of the most brilliant minds in basketball and business. Since leaving the Sonics I have started and owned a handful of companies.

APPLICATION

My post basketball career has continued to be a blessing. I’ve owned all or part of 4 successful companies in 4 different industries. The success starts with one thing- putting yourself around the right people, having clarity in your goals and confidence to execute and achieve your dreams. I encourage you to apply for a scholarship.
